General Requirements

 
 

Admission to first year of Undergraduate Courses at SOL opens in the month of June and is advertised in the leading National Newspapers. The date and availability of the Prospectus is specified in the advertisement. The students are required to submit the attached forms duly completed along with the supporting documentation as specified in the Prospectus.

A brief description of admission formalities is summarized below only for the guidance of all applicants and cannot substitute for the detailed information provided in the Prospectus which shall govern the admission process.

The Prospectus can be obtained either from the Main Centre at North Delhi Campus or from the South Study Centre at South Moti Bagh, New Delhi, Monday through Friday between 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.

The Admission cum Enrolment form attached with the Prospectus has to be filled in by the student in his/her own handwriting in capital letters only. Detailed instructions for filling the form are supplied in the Prospectus itself and students must take care to follow the same. The form has to be submitted along with the relevant documents.

The students are advised to write their Name, Course applied for and Application Form No. on the back side of Demand Draft. Before submitting the form the candidates must keep a photocopy of  the  form  and  Demand  Draft  with  him/her  for ready reference.

  
 
 Instructions for Completing the Admission cum Enrolment Form

The Application form should be filled in by the applicant in his / her own handwriting in Capital Letters only.

The date of birth of the applicant entered in  the application for admission must be the same as recorded in Matriculation / Higher Secondary / Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent certificate.  If the particulars furnished in the application form are found to be incorrect, defective or wrong, the applicant is liable for disciplinary action including removal from the rolls.

The name and spelling in the Form for Admission should be the same as given in the certificate of the last examination i.e., Senior School Certificate Examination / Intermediate Examination or an examination equivalent thereto.

Subjects / Papers offered for the course and the medium of instruction should be properly filled in the  Form.

Information with regard to the marks obtained and the maximum marks of the last examination passed and the subjects studied in  XII class must be provided at the appropriate place in the Form.

Before submitting the Admission cum Enrolment  form the candidates must  keep photocopies of the Form and the Demand Draft with him / her for ready reference.

In all cases the required fees should be deposited with the Admission Form through Bank Draft State Bank of India A Crossed Pay Order / Bank Draft payable at Delhi drawn on  State Bank of India (any nationalized bank for students residing outside Delhi) drawn in favour of the Executive Director, School of Open Learning, Payable at State Bank of India, Service Branch, New Delhi, along with a photocopy of the Draft.

Character Certificate in original from the School or College last attended failing which a recent Character Certificate from a Gazetted Officer may be submitted. The Character Certificate will not be returned.

Original / Provisional Certificate of having passed the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination / Intermediate Examination or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto.

Attested copy of the Marks Sheet of the Examination passed which makes the candidate eligible for admission. (Senior School Certificate Examination / Intermediate Examination or an examination equivalent thereto).

Attested copy of the detailed Marks Sheet and Certificate of Secondary School / Matriculation/ S.S.L.C./ S.S.C. Examination.

Attested copy of the Certificate of the Date of Birth in Christian era.

Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe certificate, in original along with one photocopy by the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes. The said certificate must be from any of the following officers :

æ District Magistrate / Additional District Magistrate / Collector / Deputy Commissioner / Additional  Deputy Commissioner / Deputy Collector / First Class Stipendiary Magistrate / City Magistrate /  Assistant  Commissioner.

æ  Chief Presidency Magistrate / Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate.

æ  Revenue Officers not below the rank of  Tehsildar.

æ  Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and / or his family normally resides.

æ  Administrator / Secretary to Administrator / Development Officer (Laccadive and Minicoy Island).

The original Scheduled Caste / Tribe Certificate will be returned after verification and the attested / photocopy thereof will be retained with the admission form.

The copies of all the certificates referred to above should be attested by a Gazetted Officer / First Class Magistrate. The seal of the Gazetted Officer / First Class Magistrate must also be affixed.

Recent passport size unattested photograph to be pasted on the Form at the space provided.

Verification of Original Certificates

Candidates are required to produce the Original Certificates for verification after 15 days of submitting the application form.  However, the exact date shall be informed at the counter while submitting the application form.

The Original Certificates will be returned along with the Admission No. Candidates are required to fill in carefully the under-mentioned forms:

Step by step Admission procedure is outlined below:

Submit your Enrolment-cum-Admission Form  with enclosures and receive Fee Receipt.

You can collect  your Identity Card after 30 days of submission of Form,  provided your form is complete  in all respects. Bring your fee receipt and original certificates for verification. Names of the candidates whose forms are incomplete will be displayed. The candidates should make the necessary  corrections.

Produce your Identity Card / Fee Receipt and collect your study material from Window Numbers 15 and 16 at the North Campus Main Centre

Collect your Library Cards. The same will be issued to you on production of Identity Card and Fee Receipt.

The University of delhi has discontinued the practice of holding the university examination of the students of SOL Outside Delhi Including Abroad with efect from the annual examination 2008.
